Windows 10 Version 1903: The "Light" Revolution

Released on May 21, 2019, the Windows 10 May 2019 Update (Version 1903) was a breath of fresh air for the OS. After years of dark menus and heavy aesthetics, Microsoft introduced a cleaner, more modern look and handed back control to the users regarding how updates are handled.

The New Light Theme

The most striking visual change was the introduction of a true System-wide Light Theme.

Freedom of Choice: Windows Update

The Windows Sandbox

This provided a lightweight, isolated desktop environment where you could run suspicious .exe files or test software without any risk to your main installation. Once you closed the Sandbox, everything inside was permanently deleted.

Search and Cortana Split

In a move to simplify the Taskbar, Microsoft officially separated Windows Search from Cortana. Clicking the search box focused purely on finding files and apps, while a separate button handled voice-activated digital assistance. This resulted in a much faster, less cluttered search experience.
