Internet Explorer: How to Enable Cookies for a Seamless Experience
In the world of tech support and web simulations, cookies are the tiny "memory" files that allow websites to remember who you are. If cookies are disabled in Internet Explorer (IE), you might find yourself stuck in a loop of logging in repeatedly, or the interactive tools on Chasms.com may fail to save your progress.
Whether you're using a legacy version like IE 9 or the final IE 11, here is how to get your browser's "memory" back on track.
Method 1: The Quick Slider (Standard Users)
This is the easiest way to reset your cookie policy to a functional level.
Open Internet Explorer and click the Gear icon (Tools) in the top-right corner.
Select Internet Options.
Click the Privacy tab.
Under the Settings section, you will see a slider. To enable most cookies, move the slider down to Medium (the default) or Low.
Click OK and restart your browser.
Method 2: The Advanced Override (Pro Users)
If the slider isn't working—or if it says "Custom"—you can manually force IE to accept cookies:
Go to Internet Options > Privacy tab.
Click the Advanced button.
Check the box for "Override automatic cookie handling."
Select Accept for both First-party and Third-party Cookies.
Check the box for "Always allow session cookies."
Click OK and restart the browser.
