Windows 10 & Ecosystem: Latest Updates (March 2026)

Even though Windows 10 is in its Extended Security Update (ESU) phase, Microsoft released several critical fixes during the March 10, 2026, Patch Tuesday:

  • KB5078885 (Build 19045.7058): The official March security update addressed 79 vulnerabilities, including two high-priority flaws in SQL Server (CVE-2026-21262) and .NET.

  • Secure Boot Certificate Delivery: This update expands "high-confidence device targeting," allowing more Windows 10 devices to automatically receive new Secure Boot certificates before the June 2026 expiration.

  • Shutdown/Hibernation Fix: Resolved a known issue where certain PCs with Virtual Secure Mode (VSM) enabled would unexpectedly restart instead of shutting down.

  • File Explorer Folder Names: Fixed a bug where custom folder names (set via desktop.ini) were being ignored; they now display correctly as intended.

  • GPU Stability Improvements: Included a reliability fix for intensive graphics workloads that previously caused system instability on specific GPU configurations.
