Even though Windows 7 is in legacy status, the modern Windows ecosystem saw significant activity during the March 10, 2026, Patch Tuesday:

  • Firefox ESR 115 Support Extension: In a major victory for Windows 7 users, Mozilla has officially extended security support for Firefox ESR 115 until August 2026, six months longer than previously planned.

  • AI-Discovered Vulnerability (CVE-2026-21536): For the first time, a critical Remote Code Execution vulnerability was identified by an autonomous AI agent (XBOW) and subsequently patched in the Windows ecosystem.
