1. Check The Password/ID login to make sure the case is right and the password is right.
2. Check DUN SETTINGS "My Computer" to make sure that they are all right and ENABLE THE TTY window to see where the connection attempt fails.
3. If the computer does not even dial out,then try setting the modem to a standard software (init string) to get it to initialize.
4. If the modem is initializing, check for line noise by having member login at TTY window and checking for 'trash' on the terminal screen.
5. Next, check the MODEM PROPERTIES, the "NETWORK PROPERTIES", "TCP/IP PROPERTIES" and for an external modem, you need to know the UART chip from the DIAGNOSTICS tab window (GET MORE INFO).
6. Next, check for multiple winsocks, wsock32, and url.dll.
7. Try setting the modem software to a standard software to get it to initialize.
8. Delete and reinstall TCP/IP and DUN.
