Trace RouteIf you've tried a 'ping' and are timing out or getting an error, use 'tracert' to see where the connection is failing along the path to the destination.
|
To do a 'tracert' go to Start | Programs | Accessories | Command Prompt and type tracert (see screenshot). This trace route did not have a problem getting through to its destination. If it had though, you would see a time out or other error message. For example, if the trace route had gone to hop 5 (see screenshot) and then timed out or an error message was received, you could report exactly where the problem was occurring. You could report that the trace route is failing at p4-0-0.dallas1-cr2.bbnplanet.net (xx.xx.x.x). Click anywhere on the screenshot to continue.
