If you're getting the message below from Internet Explorer 3.01 for Windows 3.x, then you need to download Free Agent to have access to all the newsgroups that you need. You can do that by going to this address for Free Agent.

After you do that, come back here for a step by step tutorial of how to set it up.

  • In Program Manager , go to "File" in the menu, then select "Run" . Then find where you downloaded "Free Agent", enter the path using the screen shot below as an example, to start installing.

  • All you need to do is follow the screen shot's instructions.

  • Using the program's direction is best unless you're familiar with how to change directories.

  • This will create a icons and a window for the Free Agent program and it's contents.

  • Just do as it says here and click Next.

  • Do the same here by selecting Start.

  • Now,let's get a list of groups that we want to subscribe to, as below.

  • Now go to Options in the menu and select General Preferences.

  • Now, fill in your GTE Account information using the info below as an example.

  • And here they are.

  • Use your Right Mouse Button to select the group you want to subscribe to.

  • A little icon to the left of the group will show that you have subscribed to it.

  • Now, select as below to get the messages from that group.
